Went To Chek Jawa Today (18th Feb '03) with Belinda and Patrick and here's a pictorial of what I saw...
It's indeed an eye opener and I am glad Belinda invited me to go. I do love marine life and the rustic "kampung" life of peace and serenity.

Would You Call 'Em Bum Boats?
Went on these boats and it cost us only a person. From Changi Jetty to Pulau Ubin... it's must have been like 8 minutes away but it was a world of difference. |

Before We Left
While waiting for everyone to gather, we saw these fishermen who claimed that they caught giant cockels and prawns and lobsters from the neighbouring waters of Malaysia. Seems that a giant cockle can sell for as much as a piece and it's said to be a delicacy for Japanese tourists. |

Carpet Anemonie
There were lots and lots of carpet anemonie (so says the tour guide) and it was all just lying on the muddy floor. Green ones and several purple ones but they were aplenty. |
|
Star Fish
There were many star fish in the waters too but the one that was the highlight of the trip was a gigantic orange one. Look at its size! |
|
Tube Worms
Sticking out of the ground were also tube worms... small and big ones....

|
Priscilla The Pig
Priscilla is the only native pig on Chek Jawa. She roams about the island very freely and she's harmless so you can even touch her if you want.. :P |

Scarecrow
First time I've seen a scarecrow and it was at the secret gardens of herbs and spices. There were mint leaves, aloe vera, chilli plants, brinjals, laksa leaves, pandan leaves, tapioca plants, you name 'em and they have 'em.
